About Jeannine:

Jeannine received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music education from The Hartt School, University of Hartford. She completed her early childhood music training with John Feierabend, Ph.D, founder of The National Center for Music and Movement in the Early Years and author of the First Steps in Music Program. First Steps in Music is a parent/child music and movement program for children birth to 5 years old. After spending five years at the Coordinator and Lead teacher for First Steps in Music, Jeannine returned to public school teaching and is now an elementary school music teacher in Middletown, CT. She is also a member of the adjunct faculty in the Hartt Collegiate Division where she is the instructor for MED 501: Music in Early Childhood, a 3 credit graduate level course for early childhood and elementary school teachers who are not musicians but wish to learn how to incorporate music into their daily classroom activities.

Before beginning her work at The Hartt School, Jeannine worked in the Connecticut public school system for several years. During her time in the public schools she has had the opportunity to be involved in the development and production of several special projects including "M.A.G.I.C.", (an interdisciplinary arts and social studies program), "The Music Share", (a bi-annual singing and dancing event for students and their families), and the annual "Dance Festival" at Frederick Brewster School in Durham, CT. Jeannine was also a founding co-director of YCA, (Young Choral Artists), a Middletown-based children’s choir.

Jeannine studied vocal performance at the Hartt School with Mary Mack and is a member of the ECMMA (Early Childhood Music and Movement Association). Her professional mission is to bring the joy of music making to children and their families while also nurturing the musical potential that every child is born with. Jeannine is also committed to preserving America’s folk music and dance heritage. She has studied folk music research with Jill Trinka, Ph.D. and folk instruments with Jeffrey Rhone.

Jeannine is also the music teacher at Knight Hall Preschool in West Hartford, CT.
